My name is Lisa Sligar, and I am the owner and lead artist of Lisa Marie Paints LLC. 
All my life I have loved creating, drawing, and painting. Although I turned down a scholarship out of high school for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to study psychology at Duquesne University, and eventually follow a career into Physical Therapy, my artistic flame never dimmed.  While in school, I also  continued my fine art education with live model painting summer courses at CMU, and doing commissioned paintings when I had the time.

For the past 15+ years, I have continued creating commissioned paintings on the side of working in healthcare, gradually increasing in volume, and in 2021, I decided to officially create my painting business.

At this time, I also expanded my services into live wedding and event painting, which took off more than I'd ever imagined! 

Since starting my business in 2021, I have had the absolute pleasure of painting live at over 100 weddings, at least 20 charity events, and creating commissioned paintings from my home studio, all while continuing to work part time in Physical Therapy.

I am so grateful for and absolutely love what I do in all aspects.

I feel that the love I have for creating pairs perfectly with the compassion and empathy I have for people, their emotions, and their beautiful interactions with each other and the world. 

As a portrait artist, I adore and crave capturing the imperfectly perfect raw emotion of people, and all living creatures I have the opportunity to encapsulate with paint.

For me, there is no better way to express myself and the magic I see in the world than with a paintbrush on canvas.
